As I type this blogpost it has officially set in for me that not only will we be saying goodbye to warm sunshine, but school is now back in session. Keeping this in mind, I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you boho bedroom decorating ideas for back to school. The past couple months I have been working on my room and slowly turning into the boho paradise I now love to spend time in. While I’m very happy with the “Pinterest worthy” result of my room, you’ll be surprised to know I did it all very budget-friendly. To learn more about just how I did this, so you too can decorate your dorm room or bedroom at home like me, then keep on reading! I have a feeling you’ll be spending a lot more time in.

My Money-Saving Decorating Ideas:
1. Retreat to flea markets & thrift stores
The first step to redecorating begins within your local flea market or thrift store. Once considered a not so pleasant place to be, there is now a new burst of enthusiasm about secondhand shopping and I am all for it! With a little bit of time and patience, you’d be amazed what kind of unique little treasures you might stumble upon. A couple of my most favorite finds include a 60’s radio, mini peacock rattan chair and a cactus painting! They all sit on my dresser and bring me a lot of satisfaction and happiness looking at my pretty little setup. I’ve found too that finding mini rattan chairs in particular at thrift stores and flea markets is really easy. So as you begin the redecorating process, keep your eyes out for them!
2. Raid your grandpa’s attic, garage and shed
I bet you never thought your grandpa or dad has anything cool in their attic but now’s the time to think again! Saving money on decorating is all about being smart and it just so happens that a lot of the current boho decorating trends, are mainly all recycled from the past. Various potential treasures you could decorate with include film cameras, rattan chairs, vintage radios and record players, records, old cactus paintings and the list goes on. Spend some time sifting around with an open mind and you’ll be well on your way to a Pinterest worthy room/dorm. Plus, I’m sure your grandpa, grandma, dad or whoever’s attic your picking through will be happy to know you find value in their stuff.
3. Become the plant lady you always knew you were 😉
The thing is, plants aren’t very expensive but make for the perfect decoration! There are so many to choose from and you can find them just about anywhere. Some of the most affordable plants I love to decorate with are air plants, succulents and eucalyptus. If you really want to hone in on the boho style, try adding cacti to your room. They are slightly pricier but worth every penny, in my opinion.
4. Give your room an affordable, non-permanent update with wallpaper
My most favorite way to affordably decorate, is with removable wallpaper. It’s amazing what a pretty patterned wall can do for a room! Plus if you’re in college this may be an option you can utilize, pending what the rules are at your specific campus. I say it’s definitely worth looking into, as removable wallpaper is just that, not permanent. In my room I chose the longest wall and decided that would be the statement wall. All my other walls are white, to offset it.
5. Try your hand at macrame
