Rad Travel Essentials
to Hit The Road With
1. Diet Coke®
My first rad road trip essential? Diet Coke® of course! One things for sure, when you’re on the run you need a good drink to quench your thirst. That’s where my long time favorite Diet Coke® comes in. As summer quickly approaches, I’m really excited to try the new line of Diet Coke® flavors that are just as adventurous as I am! What’s also pretty awesome, is that Diet Coke® gave their cans a sleek and stylish new look. Insta photo sippin on a Diet Coke® on the roadside, anyone? If you live in the Pittsburgh area, you can find the new flavors at Giant Eagle! (I found mine at the Murrysville Giant Eagle)
Looking to take advantage of a special March/April Diet Coke® Ibotta offer? If so, Earn $1.25 with the purchase of 1 Diet Coke 8-pack, 12 oz. cans (any variety), along with any brand of avocados (any variety, any size). Both products must be purchased on the same receipt to receive credit for this rebate. This deal is definitely worth taking advantage of, so I recommend you check it out! Another great way to try all of the new flavors affordably, is to purchase them individually!
Here are the fun new flavors to compliment my fun & adventurous lifestyle:
- Diet Coke®
- Still the same original flavor I know and love but with a new sleek & Insta worthy look!
- Diet Coke® Feisty Cherry
-
- All the cherry fans out there, rejoice! This new flavor is made just for you and it just so happened to be one of my favorites.
- Diet Coke® Ginger Lime
- Tastes almost just like ginger beer. Also makes for the perfect companion to popcorn on movie night.
- Diet Coke® Twisted Mango
- Tropical flavors more up your alley? Give twisted mango a try! Just picture yourself with the wind blowing in your hair, a cute retro pair of sunglasses on and a twisted mango Diet Coke in hand. Ummm, perfection yes?
- Diet Coke® Zesty Blood Orange
- This flavor has such a fun, bold and unexpected taste! For this reason, it was probably my most favorite flavor of them all. Definitely goes well with a good read on the road.
2. Retro Sunglasses
Because you gotta protect your eyes anyway, so why not do it in style like a vintage babe. 😉 When I hit the road in the summer I never forget to bring along a couple of my most favorite shades. They’re really easy to get your hands on affordably, all you have to do is a little shopping around! The shades in my photos were under $10! Crazy, right? Now thats a deal if I ever did see one. I love to go for a pair of sunglasses with a vintage style because I think it just looks so much more unique and cute! There’s so many fun vintage style shades you can wear too, like heart shaped ones, yellow tinted shades, etc.
3. Vintage or Stylish Camera
If you’re a photographer I know I don’t need to tell you twice about this one. But if you aren’t and usually only take photos with your phone, I’m going to encourage you to try shooting vintage this summer. Whether you pick up a polaroid camera or want to splurge on a frameless, I say it’s totally worth it. Half the fun of road trips is taking impromptu photos at cool rest stops or road side attractions. It’s always a blast documenting your best adventures so I’m recommending you don’t forget to pack a camera in your road trip bag. Trust me, your Instagram will thank you too.. 😉
4. A Good Read
Hear me out, I know reading is almost considered “old school” these days but I think you should reconsider this idea. Road trips are a retreat from your normal day to day life, which is why it only makes sense that during this time you retreat from your normal entertainment habits, too. What do you usually do when you have a couple free hours on your hands? I’m willing to bet you watch a couple YouTube videos, maybe read a blog post or check out whats new on Instagram. If you do, trust me you’re not alone, I do the same thing! (In fact, most of us probably do)
Instead of reaching for your phone on this trip, I want you to bring a book that looks interesting to you. Roll the windows down, sip on your Diet Coke® 😉 and get lost in a good book. Trust me, it does the soul good. And if you really are just not a reader? This would be a great time to catch up with whomever you’re traveling with, so give it a try! As someone who can be very talkative, I enjoy doing this on road trips! lol
5. Wide Brim Hat
My motto goes: Anytime is a good time for a hat! (Except for a couple circumstances, like during the national anthem..lol) Hats are my most favorite accessory and it’s for this reason that they’re one of my travel essentials. If you’ll be traveling somewhere super warm this summer, it’ll really come in handy. My favorite type of hat hands down is a good felt wide brim style. I recently found a new one to add to my collection and I’m pretty excited to debut it in one of my summer looks! And like I said, if you take my advice and bring along a camera for your road trip, you could get some crazy rad Insta photos with your Diet Coke® and wide brim as a prop! Not to mention if you pair that hat with a maxi dress and cowboy boots, you’ll be the cutest boho/western goddess the road ever did see!
6. Tote Bag to fit it all in!
Of course you’ll need something to put all your essentials in, which is why I’m recommending you pick up a cute tote bag! The one I took photos of is something I bought a couple summers back. I love this bag in particular because it totally sums up the vibe of this post by saying “Let’s Get Lost.” Thats kind of my unofficial mantra. It’s always a good time to travel and you never need an excuse to just get out and leave. Life is meant to be lived with a vibrant and adventurous spirit! So make sure you leave your hometown this summer and explore somewhere new. You’ll come home feeling totally renewed and refreshed! And sometimes, that’s just what you need..
That concludes today’s post about my rad travel essentials to hit the road with! What did you think, are these some of your essentials as well? If not, what can you absolutely not hit the road without? I wanna hear all this and more in the comments below. Also let me know if you try the new Diet Coke® flavors and what you think of the sleek new design. I’m obviously all about it so let’s chat! Tell me which flavor was your most favorite to try and we can compare!
